Can therapy still be effective if I don’t remember my past? I’ve kept things repressed for over 15 years and am just now starting to unpack that in therapy, but I’m having a hard time remembering details or events. I’m worried I can’t be he
This is my answer to a question on quora...
Yes… definitely. Imho… Give yourself time. Therapy is about finding, creating, developing and cherishing the best you … it is as much about the journey as the destination. Wishing you all the best…

My first thought would be that as a person who has just suffered from a traumatic brain injury… you are already trying to deal with the changes to your brain from the injuries you have received and for many this can take years, so there would be an issue of timing. What are you trying to accomplish with implants? control the likely onset of epilepsy or susceptibility to early onset Parkinson / Alzheimer etc…
Imho from experience and investigation… a traumatic brain injury shatters a persons being and character in unforeseen ways … science is good for many things but what everyone who suffers from any kind of psychological injury needs is patience understanding and love.
Wishing you all the best. :)

My name is Adam and I created this self-help not for profit website called "The New Protocols." I have been a mentor on various social media platforms providing people with proven methods and strategies to help manage and where possible be part of the process towards healing psychological injuries and developing success based methods and strategies to create a more stable and healthy life experience.
For as long as I can remember I have lived with the pain of abuse, loss and major injuries. I know what it is to wake not knowing my own name let alone my own person. Although memories return in time there is still in my experience much trauma and loss. I have spent 50 plus years managing these many difficult health issues not least of all traumatic head injury. I have recently discovered hew health issues and in the process of overcoming these new adversities I have written my first self-help book... 'The Art of the Healing Life' and created this practical online website "the New Protocols."
The art of the Successful life club is a practical everyday response to the experience of dealing with psychological injuries and creating success.
It is important that if you have or suspect you may have suffered a psychological injury that you seek professional medical advice immediately.

I also suffered mental and physical abuse from childhood which along with a major head injury returned as depression and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder...
